The eLearning Instructional Designer will work on exciting online learning solutions (courses, games, simulators and assessments) for KnowBe4’s customers. While you need to understand reasonable software security practices, you do not need to have a background in information security. Just be a creative instructional designer, bring new ideas to the table, and ship learning activities to the LMS! The ideal candidate should be an AI enthusiast with a passion for leveraging artificial intelligence to transform learning experiences. You will work together with other eLearning developers, QA and engineers in a fast-paced environment, working with SMEs and the entire team (graphics, Q/A course builders, and leadership) to help build and integrate eLearning assets.

Our highly collaborative teams rapidly release courseware in an environment where innovation is applauded and minimizing distractions from real work are top priority.

Design and develop comprehensive eLearning content (courses, games, simulators and assessments) using AI tools for content generation, visualization, and interactivity to integrate with the Learning Management System (LMS)

Implement online andragogy, instructional design, and adult learning principles while leveraging AI capabilities to enhance content creation and delivery

Utilize AI writing tools (like KnowBe4 AIPortal, ChatGPT, Claude) to draft course scripts, scenarios, assessments, and learning activities

Practice effective interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work with different levels within the organization, to build relationships, to actively listen, and to assist team members and/or subject matter experts (SME) in translating concepts (including AI-generated content) into engaging, effective online courses.

Develop storyboards in a standard format that strategically incorporate AI-created content components and respond promptly to feedback from Q/A and leadership

Use AI tools to assist in developing sound knowledge checks for formative assessment, as well as strong summative assessments

Stay current with emerging AI technologies relevant to eLearning development

Possess effective communication skills: written (including editing and proof-reading), verbal, and presentation (including visuals), including the ability to articulate how AI enhances instructional content

Possess the ability and experience to effectively utilize the required technology tools (MS Word, Gmail, Basic HTML/JavaScript) alongside AI content creation tools and platforms

Evaluate AI-generated content for quality, accuracy, and alignment with learning objectives that abide by copyright and intellectual property considerations before integration into courses

Document best practices; research and recommend improvements to AI content creation workflows to enhance quality and efficiency

Create templates and frameworks that can be consistently applied when using AI writing tools and assist publishers in utilising them

B.A. or B.S in Adult Education, Cybersecurity, Information Technology (or comparable work experience) required

M.S. or M.A. or M.Ed. in Instructional Design or Instructional Technology (or comparable work experience) preferred

Minimum 2 years experience with the instructional design best practices (storyboard development for online)

Minimum 2 years experience with created complex assessment items for formative and summative purposes

Minimum 2 years experience with making engaging and interesting online courseware (preferably in a corporate environment)

Experience with Web Accessibility Standards (Section 508 & WCAG 2.1)

Experience with learning solutions for iOS, iBooks, Android, and other interactive media/mobile platforms and programming

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in learning/online learning

Creative problem-solving, adaptability, and willingness to learn new AI tools

Experience with AI tools (ie...ElevenLabs, Google Veo 3, HeyGen, Synthesia Midjourney AI, RunwayML,ect.)

Ability to balance efficiency of AI tools with pedagogical effectiveness

Critical thinking to evaluate AI outputs for educational appropriateness

Top notch Communication skills, verbal & written

Ability to learn and apply new tools, techniques and processes quickly

Great listening skills to working with subject matter experts (SME) and other team members to incorporate their ideas and feedback

Terrific problem solver in general and as it applies to designing effective courseware for adult learners operating in a world of distractions

Works well with others in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

First rate skills at time and priority management

Effective self-editor (although you will work with a Q/A team)

Familiarity with and interest in current communications and

visual design principles and how they apply to adult learners

Understanding of concepts of gamification and how to employ them in online learning

General understanding of UI/UX needs of accessibility and how it applies to adult learners

Curious, innovative, and creative

Ability to write assessment & knowledge check questions to reinforce learning & ensure retention / ability to apply learned material

Build and organize effective prompt libraries for consistent results from AI tools

Ability to prompt, create and integrate AI-generated elements seamlessly with human-created content

Knowledge of best practices for AI content creation and curation in instructional design
